FAQ

Here are some answers to some of the most frequent questions we receive about our minitransporters.

Technical questions

Can you give me more details on what you mean by swap body?

Our tracked undercarriage comes in a single size that provides the platform on which to install all the applications in the range. The video on the site (see video ») gives a clear idea of the ease and speed of changing from one application to another.

What is the construction of the loading structure of the Minitransporter?

The structure is made of steel by assembling parts produced using laser cutting techniques that are suitably shaped, pressed and welded.

Where should the hare/tortoise lever be positioned when I want to use an application?

The lever must be set to the tortoise position (slow) to allow the hydraulic fluid to reach all the actuators (tipping cylinder/loading shovel/outriggers and actuators for the crane or other applications); the lever should be set to the hare position (fast) for rapid travel movements.

What is the oil capacity of the tank?

The steel tank with pressure-tight welds has a total volume of 25 litres.

How can I access the hydraulic system, protected by a cover, to carry out maintenance work?

The cover is easily removable by removing the lateral fixing screws for simple and quick access to all parts of the hydraulic circuit that may require adjustment or inspection; with the aid of the mini pressure test points on the hydraulic pump the entire circuit can be adjusted and checked. We recommend entrusting these operations to an expert or consulting the manufacturer for the necessary instructions.

What's the function of the equalizer beam between the drive sprocket and the idler sprocket?

The equalizer beam structure is designed to ensure the machine remains stable also when riding over obstacles on the ground (steps, rocks, uneven terrain). Movement of the equalizer beam follows the profile of the rubber track to ensure it remains in contact with the ground.

If a track becomes slack, how can I tension it?

By lifting or tipping any application installed on the minitransporter you can access the slots on the sides of the undercarriage beams. Loosen the locknut and turn the threaded bar clockwise to tension the track. Ensure that both tracks are at approximately the same tension.

Can you give me an overview of a hydraulic system?

Definition of hydraulics: the area of fluid dynamics used in applied mechanical engineering to transmit energy by means of pressurized fluids, specifically hydraulic oil, which is the “energy vector”. Applications: In typical hydraulic applications the oil flow generated by a pump in a hydraulic circuit is used to move a hydraulic cylinder or motor, depending on the desired movement (linear or rotary). Hydraulic actuator: a typical linear hydraulic actuator is a cylinder, composed of a barrel in which slides a piston, which in turn drives a rod that transmits the movement.

How are the levers used on the control console?

Our minitransporters feature very high sensitivity drive levers for inching movement of the undercarriage; this is due to the hydraulic manifold directional control valves made by Walvoil of Reggio Emilia, Italy, world leader in the sector. The directional control valves are ideal for hydraulic systems with fixed displacement pumps for closed centre operation. The plant is equipped with two directional control valves with two levers, having nominal flow rate of 45 l/minute and designed to withstand nominal pressures of up to 250 bar in an ambient working temperature range of -40° to +60° C. Moving on to the levers: Two single levers on the right hand side, the outermost one to activate the actuators of the individual applications, and the innermost one to activate the tipping actuators (cylinders). On the left hand side the drive unit composed of two coupled single levers; pushing the levers forward causes the minitransporter to move forwards, pulling them back (towards the operator) causes the machine to travel in the opposite direction. As mentioned earlier, the speed of movement depends on the pressure applied by the operator on the controls.

Where can I check the hydraulic oil level?

There’s an oil sight glass on the right hand side of the tank. If the window is completely submerged there is sufficient oil in the tank for operation of the system. The oil level must be kept topped up at all times. Use hydraulic oil having the characteristics shown in the user and maintenance handbook supplied with the minitransporter.
